Writers Working On Green Lantern 2 & The Flash

Green Lantern is still currently in production and it seems that DC/WB like what they're seeing. HeatVision reports that Greg Berlanti, Michael Green and Marc Guggenheim have been hired to start work on Green Lantern 2 the writers previously wrote the first film. It's expected that both Ryan Reynolds and director Martin Campbell will return for the sequels. The site also says they've been hired to work on the The Flash script which has been in development for a while now. The film will focus on Barry Allen who doubles as a police officer and speedy superhero. Greg Berlanti has been rumored to be DC's choice to direct Flash.

This falls inline with previous statements that Warner Bros. would be looking to replace their Harry Potter franchise with more DC movies. It's expected that DC Entertainment is trying to complete with Marvel Studios and 20th Century Fox's superhero films which seems to be an uphill battle for DC. Marvel has three announced releases and many more in development which include SHIELD, Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, Iron Man 3, Black Panther and spin-offs like Black Widow/Hawkeye. Even Fox has been upping their efforts to showcase their Marvel characters. They're mining the X-Men universe for all it's worth with First Class, Wolverine 2, Deadpool and X-Men 4 all in different development stages. The studio's biggest gamble will be their new vision for Superman which could be either successful or their greatest failure.
