CAST EM': Expendables 3

It looks like it might be too late to squeeze anymore additions to the testosterone fueled cast of Expendables 2 cast as the film is wrapping up production in New Orleans. Between the two films it's beyond stunning that Sly has been able to this amount of action stars into each of the films. Of course for Expendables 3 we'll end up getting guys like Steven Seagal, Donnie Yen and others. However, I do have have some suggestions for the third installment if it ever gets made. My rundown includes some well known faces along with some new ones.

SEAN BEAN: Patriot Games, Goldeneye, Ronin, LOTR: Fellowship of The Ring, Troy, The Island, Outlaw, Game of Thrones, Age of Heroes and 16 TV movies playing the iconic character Sharpe.

Sean Bean has been kicking around for a long time and his extensive work playing Major Sharpe in sixteen films should make him the ultimate British badass alone. He plays great villains and equally threatening heroes. I would personally like him to reprise his Irish accent from Patriot Games.

NICOLAS CAGE: Face-Off, The Rock, 8mm, Con Air, Lord of War, Bangkok Dangerous, Bad Lieutenant, Kick-Ass, Season of The Witch, Drive Angry, Trespass and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.

Cage had been rumored as been given an offer to join the sequel but nothing came of it. I feel if the Expendables clubhouse is in New Orleans, Cage (who lives there) needs to at least have a cameo in future films. Nic is outrageous in pretty much everything he does and it would awesome to see him play a coked out villain.

DANNY TREJO: Marked For Death, Desperado, Heat, From Dusk Till Dawn 1-3, Anaconda, Con Air, The Replacement Killers, Reindeer Games, Once Upon A Time In Mexico, Devil's Rejects, Halloween, Machete, Predators and Sons of Anarchy.

Danny Trejo is a workhorse. He grinds out so many projects I think he forgets he's even in some of them. The gruff voiced Trejo is one of the greatest supporting actors in the genre. Danny was originally set to play the General in the first film but had to drop out. I wouldn't mind seeing him mow down a ton of  soldiers with a machine gun and machete.

DWAYNE JOHNSON: The Rundown, Scorpion King, Be Cool, Doom, Southland Tales, The Other Guys, Faster, Fast Five, Fast Six and G.I. Joe 2.

Johnson officially broke-out as an action star when headlined Scorpion King and The Rundown. In the latter film he got an approval of sorts from Schwarzenegger who cameoed in the film. That success was put on pause when started making family friendly films knocking down his credibility. He recently shook this off when he came back with roles in Faster, Fast Six and the G.I. Joe reboot. Michael Bay is pursuing him for his next film and could join Expendables 2 star Liam Hemsworth in a heist project. Dwayne has been vocal on Twitter about wanting to join the franchise.

KARL URBAN: Hercules, Xena, LOTR: Two Towers/Return of The King, Chronicles of Riddick, Bourne Supremacy, Doom, Pathfinder, Star Trek 1-2, Red 1-2, Dredd and Riddick III: Dead Man Stalking.

The Kiwi actor has been invading American screens since his early career on the adventure series Hercules and Xena. Karl would later have a string of solid efforts that would lead him to co-star with Expendable Bruce Willis in Red. He seems happy to jump on any action project that will give him exposure.

JASON MOMA: Stargate: Atlantis, Game of Thrones, Conan The Barbarian and Bullet To The Head.

Jason Moma had been a fan favorite of the Stargate franchise. That show led him landing roles as the new Conan (usurping Schwarzenegger) and getting a rather large part in Game of Thrones. He recently starred alongside Stallone in the comic book film Bullet To The Head, playing the film's villain.

GINA CARANO: Haywire.

Gina Carano is an MMA fighter turned actress who stars in Steven Soderbergh's spy thriller Haywire. While I haven't seen it to judge her acting abilities but from the clips and trailers she looks more convincing than any other actress before her. When you watch her handle weapons and kick-ass it looks like second nature to Gina. Instead of someone like Angelina Jolie who looks more delicate than a crystal vase and is unrealistic she'd ever throw a punch.

Jordi Molla Up For Villain Role In Riddick 3

Variety reports that Spanish actor Jordi Molla (Bad Boys 2, Blow, Knight And Day) is in talks to take a role in Riddick 3. Molla is up for the part of Santana, the leader of an eight-man mercenary team tasked to find and kill Riddick. Jordi was recently linked to testing for a villain role in Star Trek 2 before Benedict Cumberbatch was cast. Katee Sackhoff's mercenary Dahl is likely apart of that team as well. While Vin Diesel is a lock, Karl Urban on the other hand might not since Star Trek 2 shoots soon.

Katee Sackhoff Confirmed For Riddick 3

Deadline confirms that Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) will indeed play the female mercenary Dahl in Riddick 3. Dahl is likely the merc leading a team to recapture Riddick who has a hefty price on his head. It had been rumored for months that Katee was up for the role and now she's in final talks to take it. Production is currently underway in Montreal with Vin Diesel reprising the role of Riddick. Karl Urban (Star Trek 1-2, Dredd, Red) is also returning for the third installment.

Robocop Actor Peter Weller Joins Star Trek 2

Deadline reports that actor Peter Weller best known for his role as Alex Murphy in the cult classic Robocop has joined the cast of Star Trek 2. Weller has fallen off the map in recent years but took a rather decent role in the last season of Dexter. His role of course like every new to the project is unknown but his involvement has to be more exciting than just a cameo. I wouldn't be shocked to see Weller end up in the villain role to be honest. Alice Eve and Benicio Del Toro are also expected to join the film as well.

Is Benicio Del Toro Actually Playing Khan In Star Trek 2?

Back in 2009 Trekkies gathered to The Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, Texas for a special screening of Wrath of Khan. They instead were treated with an exclusive screening of the Star Trek reboot. From that moment it's been rumored that Khan would be the villain of Star Trek 2. When Benicio Del Toro's name came up as a possible candidate for the villain role. It started the fuel again since both Benicio and Ricardo Montalbán who originated the role are Latin actors. Now LatinoReview reports with insider information that Benicio will indeed play Khan Noonien Singh.

The genetically altered human was marooned by Kirk in the television series only to enact revenge in Wrath of Khan. Which is considered to be the best film of the franchise. There are so many angles they could go with Khan since the timeline has been altered. He could very well be a hero who becomes a villain or is straight up villain at the start. There has also been speculation of the Klingons being in the film. In the last film J.J. ultimately cut the scenes from the Klingon prison which showed guards not looking the Klingons we know. I assume it was cut because the redesign didn't work and they knew they'd have to end up going back to them eventually.

Alice Eve Lands Female Lead In Star Trek 2

While we're still waiting to find out if Benicio Del Toro will indeed be the villain in the Star Trek sequel. Along with what/who the role is. There is finally confirmation of a new cast member from ShowBlitz. British actress Alice Eve has nabbed a lead female role in Star Trek 2 which is yet to be named. However, the character is reported to be brand new and not from previous incarnations. Nothing is really known about the sequel even it's title hasn't been named. Yet the release date is set for May 17th 2013.

Eve is slowly becoming a bigger player in the blockbuster world being contentions for leads in X-Men First Class and Captain America. The former she dropped out as Emma Frost which was filled terribly by January Jones. There had been talk that she was still in talks with Marvel Studios for a future role. Alice previously worked with Simon Pegg in The Big Nothing who plays Scotty so she very well could be a new crew member or a love interest for Kirk.

Benicio Del Toro Might Play The Villain In Star Trek 2

Variety reports that Benicio Del Toro has met with director J.J. Abrams about taking the villainous role in Star Trek 2. Filming is expected to start in early 2012 with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Salanda, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin and Simon Pegg returning. The villain is unknown but there have been rumblings that the Klingons could be the group of villains the U.S.S. Enterprise have to go up against. Nero (Bana) and his crew were prisoners of Klingons in the first movie but their escape was latter cut from the film. In that Trek timeline Klingons are still enemies of the Federation.

Benicio Del Toro isn't new to big films landing one of his first roles in License To Kill in which he played a Bond villain. Along with solid performances in movies like The Usual Suspects, Snatch, Traffic, 21 Grams, Sin City, Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas, Che and the upcoming Oliver Stone film Savages where he also plays a villain.

Katee Sackhoff Offered Role In Riddick 3?

BloodyDisgusting is reporting that casting is underway for Riddick 3: Dead Man Stalking and that a few offers have gone out. Offers were given to Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica), Bokeem Woodbine (Total Recall, The Big Hit) and a couple of unknowns. Sackhoff would play the role of Dahl a Nordic merc tracking Riddick. Vin Diesel and Karl Urban are currently the only confirmed cast members of the third installment.

Writer/director David Twohy and Diesel have been promising a gritty scaled down sequel that will end up with a hard R-rating. I enjoyed the world of criminals, off-world prisons, colonies and mercenaries setup in the first film. Hopefully the team ends up giving us a better effort than the last film.

Karl Urban Returning For Riddick 3?

BloodyDisgusting reports that Karl Urban (Judge Dredd, Star Trek, Two Towers) is reprising his role of Vaako in The Chronicles of Riddick: Dead Man Stalking. Urban is the only the second actor cast in the film and it's unknown how large the part will be. Another one of the Karl's projects Star Trek 2 is about to start production so I'm not sure how much of the actor we'll be seeing.
