Jessica Chastain And Others Join Kathryn Bigelow's Bin Laden Film

Deadline reports that three more actors are in talks to join Kathryn Bigelow's Bin Laden film from Hurt Locker writer Mark Boal. The actors include Jessica Chastain (The Help, The Debt, Tree of Life), Mark Strong (RockNRolla, Body of Lies, Sherlock Holmes) and Edgar Ramirez (Domino, Che, Wrath of The Titans). It's an impressive addition considering they'll be joining Jason Clarke (Public Enemies, Wettest County), Joel Edgerton (Animal Kingdom, Warrior) and Chris Prat (Moneyball). It will focus on the group of Navy Seals that ultimately killed Bin Laden. Sony has set the untitled film for a December 9th 2012 release date.

Chris Prat Could Kill Bin Laden For Kathryn Bigelow

Twitch reports that Chris Prat could join Kathryn Bigelow's Bin Laden movie which focus on Seal-Team Six. If Prat lands the role it very well could be the same career changing part that helped Jeremy Renner blow up and earn two Oscar nominations.

Jeremy Renner before Hurt Locker was known for supporting roles in action films and hadn't been in the spotlight. Chris is currently best known for supporting roles in Parks And Recreation, Wanted, Take Me Home Tonight, Jennifer's Body, Moneyball and the upcoming Five-Year Engagement. If Prat joins the project it's very likely that he'll end up landing leading man roles in all types of films, giving his career a massive boost.

Jason Clarke is currently the only actor locked in for a role. Other names that have been mentioned for the film include Joel Edgerton (likely out), Idris Elba, Tom Hardy and Guy Pearce.

A Stellar Cast Being Put Together For Kathryn Bigelow's Next Film

Deadline reports that Kathryn Bigelow next film with the new title of Untitled Commando Film (Kill Bin Laden) could end up with serious talent attached to it. Jason Clarke (Wettest County, Public Enemies) is now confirmed for the lead role and the rest of the names in the mix are equally enticing. Previously Joel Edgerton had been linked to the project but he isn't on this list. He may have passed to focus on other offers.

The names that do appear include Tom Hardy (Warrior), Idris Elba (Prometheus), Guy Pearce (Hurt Locker, Memento), Rooney Mara, Jennifer Ehle (Contagion, King's Speech, Sunshine) and Nina Arianda (Midnight In Paris). A solid cast which won't break the bank allowing a solid thriller to come out and will likely end up in the awards race. Hardy has been on fire in the last couple of month choosing his directors and projects very carefully. Elba is always a great addition to any cast and I'm dying to see him in Prometheus. Rooney of course is gathering a lot of early praise and even Oscar buzz for her upcoming performance in David Fincher's The Girl With The Dragon tattoo. Jennifer had some really touching and powerful scenes in Steven Sodgerbergh's Contagion, here's hoping this is a larger role for her.

Point Break Reboot On The Way

Alcon Entertainment the company who recently put together a Blade Runner sequel/prequel with Ridley Scott attached to direct is moving on another project. TheWrap reports that they are quickly putting together a Point Break reboot with Warner Bros. The iconic 90's actioner focused on a elite group of seasonal bank robbers who turn out to be a tribe of local surfers and an FBI agent goes undercover to take them down. It was directed by a young Kathryn Bigelow (Hurt Locker) and she knocked the action world on it's ass. Showing that even women can make solid adrenaline/testorone fueled action flicks.

This new version will update the original by replacing surfers with international extreme sports. I'm getting terrible chills of xXx memories with this plot point. There had been a sequel in the works but was nixed when Patrick Swayze died recently. Point Break has a special place in my heart as it was one of the early action films I saw growing up and it holds up pretty well today. Alcon is a decent company and I trust them with Blade Runner, so anything could happen at this point. Kurt Wimmer (Total Recall) has written the new script so it could be interesting depending on the director who takes it on. Since most of the material from Wimmer has been hit and miss.

Joel Edgerton Signs On For Kathryn Bigelow's Bin Landen Film

24Frames reports that Joel Edgerton (The Thing, Warrior) has passed on Snow White & The Huntsman to work with Hurt Locker director Kathryn Bigelow. The film with the working title "Kill Bin Laden" had been in development with Bigelow's writer Mark Boal (Triple Frontier, Hurt Locker) working on the film's script. Now with Osama's death it looks like the film is moving quickly into production. This very well could be the best move for Edgerton as the film will be looked at for awards consideration when released.

Tom Hanks Confirmed For Kathryn Bigelow's Triple Frontier

ComingSoon confirms that Tom Hanks has joined Kathryn Bigelow's (Hurt Locker) Triple Frontier (Sleeping Dogs). Previously there had been word that other heavy weight actors were interested in the film they included Sean Penn, Will Smith, Javier Bardem and Christian Bale.

Johnny Depp Also In Talks For Triple Frontier

Just yesterday Deadline reported on Tom Hanks being in talks to join Kathryn Bigelow's Triple Frontier (Sleeping Dogs). Now the site says Johnny Depp is also in the mix. The film is expected to start production in February and could conflict with Depp/Burton's Dark Shadows. I'm beyond excited for the this film and the casting rumors keep getting better.

The film is set in the organized crime haven that exists in the border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil. Hanks might be known for his touching dramatic and comedic roles.
