FIRST LOOK: Colombiana

Guy Pearce & Maggie Grace To Star In Luc Besson's Lockout

Deadline reports that both Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace have joined Lockout. The science fiction thriller is co-written and produced by Luc Besson. It follows a man wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the U.S. He's offered his freedom if he can rescue the president's daughter from an outer space prison taken over by violent inmates. The plot seems like a mix between Escape From New York meets Taken.

Liam Neeson To Meet With Luc Besson For Taken 2

Luc Besson has already confirmed plans to develop a sequel to the hit Taken which he co-wrote and produced. Liam Neeson mentioned to MTV about meeting soon with Besson to go over possible story ideas for Taken 2. Stating the sequel will be challenging since it's "hard to get a plot that will be believable". I'm not sure Neeson's recent films have relied on realistic and believable stories just look at his recent crop of movies like Clash of The Titans or The A-Team which have been pretty much brainless. Either way it sounds promising that Liam could return to kick more ass Jason Bourne style. I'm praying that Luc Besson directs the sequel because it's been a very longtime since he's made an adult-oriented English action film. I'm in the belief that the only true person who can direct his screenplays properly is Besson himself.

Zoe Saldana To Star In Luc Besson's Columbiana

HeatVision reports Zoe Saldana (Star Trek, Avatar) has caught the attention of writer/director/producer Luc Besson and has been cast in his newest action flick Columbiana. While most of the Besson produced projects hve been touch nd go this one could be interesting. Besson hs co-wrote the script with Robert Mark Kamen which is sort of exciting. Kamen previously wrote Gladiator, The Fifth Element, Taken and Kiss of The Dragon. Besson has hired Olivier Megaton who directed Transporter 3 to helm the project. While I hate the idea of another Transporter, Taxi or From Paris With Love type of film. It sounds like it could land on the end of Le Femme Nikita or The Professional since Besson is best known for developing strong female leads.

"a young woman who, after witnessing her parents' murder as a child in Bogota, grows up to be a stone-cold assassin. She works for her uncle as a hitman by day, but her personal time is spent engaging in vigilante murders that she hopes will lead her to her ultimate target: the mobster responsible for her parents' death."
