Nazneen Contractor Joins Star Trek 2

EW reports that Nazneen Contractor has joined Star Trek 2. The Indian/Canadian actress is best known for her role in the series 24. They say that Nazneen will play the wife of Noel Clarke's (Doctor Who) character. She joins other newcomers to the rebooted franchise that include Benedict Cumberbatch (War Horse, Sherlock Holmes), Alice Eve and Peter Weller (Robocop). Original cast members Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Zoe Saldana and Karl Urban are expected to return for the sequel which comes out May 17th 2003.

Benedict Cumberbatch Nabs Villain Role In Star Trek 2

Deadline and Variety reports that J.J. Abrams and Paramount has found their villain for Star Trek 2. British actor Benedict Cumberbatch has landed the role which had previously been offered to Benicio Del Toro. Cumberbatch is best known for the excellent BBC series Sherlock Holmes. He recently became a big name after starring in Danny Boyle's play based on Frankenstein along with small roles in Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy, The Hobbit and War Horse. The untitled Star Trek sequel will come out on May 17th 2013.

Doctor Strange Part Of Marvel's Phase 2?

Recently during the New York Comic-Con Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige confirmed that Iron Man 3 would be the first step in moving forward with Marvel's phase two leading to Avengers 2. Feige gave a brief statement to IGN which might give fans hope that Doctor Strange could be involved in the new phase as well. There have been rumors of Benedict Cumberbatch (War Horse, Sherlock Holmes) and Javier Bardem (Bond 23, No Country For Old Men) being linked for the film.

" I love Doc Strange, I think I can finally say sooner than later....I would love to see him part of phase two."

Disney/Marvel Studios Announces Two Untitled Movies For 2014

HollywoodReporter says that Disney and Marvel Studios have announced their release dates for 2014. The two dates slated include May 16th and June 27th but it's unknown which characters these films will focus on. The site assumes the dates could be for Captain America 2 and Doctor Strange.

  The latter recently has it's first draft completed by Conan The Barbarian (2011) screenwriters Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheime. There has also been some actors linked to the role including Johnny Depp and Patrick Dempsey. Benedict Cumberbatch (The Hobbit, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), who is best known for his role as a contemporary Sherlock Holmes on Steven Moffat's BBC series is rumored to be testing for a major role at Marvel. I wouldn't be shocked if Benedict had been contacted for the role of Dr. Stephen Vincent Strange (Doctor Strange). He's a rising star and a film like this could be many being offered to him at this point. The project has been talked about in great length by Kevin Feige and was even reference in Thor. Strange's amulet made an appearance in the film as one of the many relics of Odin's vault. It's possible that the other projects which include Ant-Man, Black Panther, Iron Fist, Black Widow, SHIELD and Hawkeye could also be on deck.

Benedict Cumberbatch Will Play Smaug In The Hobbit

Deadline has yet another casting announcement for the Hobbit films. Benedict Cumberbatch (War Horse, Sherlock Holmes) who had been linked for a role has officially joined the cast playing Smaug the Dragon , doing motion capture and voice work.

Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy Coming In November

It's been announced that Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy will be released on November 18th. The film stars Gary Oldman (Dark Knight, The Professional), Colin Firth (Kings Speech), Tom Hardy (Inception, Dark Knight Rises, Bronson), Mark Strong (Sherlock Holmes, Robin Hood, Kick-Ass), Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock Holmes, Hobbit), Stephen Graham (Snatch, Public Enemies), Ciarán Hinds (Rome, Munich) and Konstantin Khabenskiy (Night Watch, Wanted). Directed by Tomas Alfredson who gave the us the amazing Let The Right One In.




Stephen Fry & Benedict Cumberbatch Join The Hobbit

Peter Jackson announced recently on Twitter the addition of Stephen Fry (Sherlock Holmes 2, Black Adder) as the Master of Laketown in The Hobbit. Now there is word from Bilbo himself Martin Freeman that his Sherlock Holmes co-star Benedict Cumberbatch will also be in the film.
