Wettest County Gets Pushed Back To August

Variety reports the prohibition era gangster flick The Wettest County In The World was originally set for April 20th but has now been pushed back to August 31st. The impressive cast includes Jason Clarke, Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain, Shia LeBeouf, Mia Wasikowska, Gary Oldman, Guy Pearce, Noah Taylor and Dane DeHaan. Based on Matt Boundurant's novel which tells the true story of three bootlegging brothers. The novel was turned into a screenplay by musician Nick Cave who will also score the film.

Guy Pearce & Gary Oldman Join The Wettest County

TheHollywoodReporter has the news that Guy Pearce (L.A. Confidential, Animal Kingdom) and Gary Oldman have joined John Hillcoat's The Wettest County. The prohabtion era thriller already has some up-and-comers lined up including Tom Hardy (Inception, Dark Knight Rises), Jessica Chastain (The Debt) and Shia LaBeouf. The source also confirms that Mia Wasikowska (Defiance, Alice In Wonderland) and Jason Clarke (Public Enemies) are on board. The film is based on true story of the Bondurant boys, bootlegging siblings who take the law into their own hands in Prohibition-era Virginia while making a run for the American Dream. Musician Nick Cave who adapted the script will also score the film's music as he did for Hillcoat's Proposition which he also wrote.

Jason Clarke Joins John Hillcoat's Wettest County

Variety reports that Jason Clarke (Public Enemies, Brotherhood) has joined John Hillcoat's (Proposition, The Road) Wettest County (Promise Land). He joins a relative solid cast including Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastainn, Mia Wasikowska and Shia LaBeouf. The film is based on the novel by Matt Boundurant and is adapted by musician Nick Cave who also wrote The Proposition.  It focuses on three brothers and their illegal alcohol business during the height of prohibition.

Mia Wasikowska In Talks For Wettest County

Variety reports Mia Wasikowska is circling a role in John Hillcoat's (The Road, The Proposition) The Wettest County / The Promise Land. The young Australian actress is slowly becoming a well known name with roles in Defiance, Alice In Wonderland, The Kids Are All Right and the upcoming Jane Eyre. Mia would join Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf and Jessica Chastain (Tree of Life, The Debt) in the prohibition drama.

The film is based on the novel by  Matt Boundurant and is adapted by musician Nick Cave who also wrote The Proposition. I still hold out hope Cave will also score the film as well. It focuses on three brothers and their illegal alcohol business during the height of prohibition.

Tom Hardy & Jessica Chastain Join The Wettest County

John Hillcoat's (The Road) The Wettest County which had been retitled The Promised Land is finally back on track. TheHollywoodReporter says that actress Jessica Chastain has joined newly added Tom Hardy and Shia LaBeouf. Jessica is about to become better known with her upcoming films The Debt and Tree of Life. Before the project got snagged months back Ryan Gosling, Amy Adams, Paul Dano, Michael Shannon and Scarlett Johansson were involved.



The film based on the novel The Wettest County in the World by Matt Bondurant focuses on on his grandfather and two great-uncles, the true gangsters story tells of the Bondurants boys, bootlegging siblings taking the law into their own hands in Prohibition-era Virginia while making a run for the American Dream. The film's script was written by musician Nick Cave who also wrote Hillcoat's The Proposition. I hope that Cave will also score the film like he did with the other project.
