Casting For Ben Affleck's Argo Is Coming Together

I rarely find an actor that I prefer to see behind the camera but Ben Affleck's films Gone Baby Gone and The Town are masterpieces in my opinion. While I'm upset that Affleck isn't directing mobster period drama Gangster Squad which was offered to him. Argo however has an interesting concept and could end up surprising me as The Town did. Set in 1979, the film is about a covert mission orchestrated by the CIA to rescue U.S. diplomat hostages in Tehran. They did this by pretending to set up a Hollywood production for a sci-fi movie called Argo and actually employed producers and make-up artists to help make it all look real.

The film's cast is shaping up to be an odd mix of newcomers and vets. It includes Affleck, Alan Arkin (Little Miss Sunshine), Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad, Drive), John Goodman (Big Lebowski), Kyle Chandler (Super8, King Kong), Rory Cochrane (Public Enemies, Dazed & Confused), Michael Parks (Kill Bill, Red State), Scoot McNairy (Monsters, Cogan's Trade), Taylor Schilling (Dark Matter), Tate Donovan (Friends, Shooter), Nelson Franklin (Office, Scott Pilgrim), Victor Garber (Milk) and Richard Kind (A Serious Man).

Logan Marshall-Green Joins Ridley Scott's Prometheus

Deadline reports that yet another actor has joined Ridely Scott's science fiction thriller Prometheus. It's Logan Marshall-Green the first American actor cast in the film. The up and coming actor is best known for his television work but played a rookie cop in the fantastic cop thriller Brooklyn's Finest. He will play Holloway a crew member  and love interest to Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace). This could be the role that Scoot McNairy (Monsters) had been linked to previously before joining Cogan's Trade.

The film boats a stellar casting mix that includes Noomi Rapace (Dragon Tattoo, Sherlock Holmes 2), Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds, 300, X-Men First Class), Charlize Theron, Idris Elba (Thor, The Wire, RockNRolla), Rafe Spall (Green Street Hooligans, A Good Year, Hot Fuzz), Sean Harris (Harry Brown, Red Riding Trilogy) and Kate Dickie with a release date set for June 8th 2012.

Rafe Spall Joins Ridley Scott's Prometheus

ThePlaylist reports British actor Rafe Spall has joined Ridley Scott's Prometheus. Spall is best known for his roles in Hot Fuzz, Shaun of The Dead and Green Street Hooligans but has a lot of theater work behind as well. He also has worked with Ridley before on his amazing romantic comedy A Good Year alongside Russell Crowe. Rafe joins a stellar cast that includes Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris and Kate Dickie. The science fiction thriller is set to hit theaters on June 8th 2012.

Scoot McNairy Might Join Ridley Scott's Prometheus & Other Big Parts

Deadline reports Scoot McNairy the star of the sleeper hit Monsters is up for a role in Ridley Scott's Prometheus. This won't be the only big part he's up for as he just joined Cogan's Trade and is in talks for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. I'd personally rather see Scott take part in Prometheus as I feel he would make a great addition to the cast. The science fiction thriller set in the same universe as the original Alien film stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron.

Monsters' Scoot McNairy Lands Role In Big Superhero Film?

While Monsters director Gareth Edwards has gone on to helm Legendary Pictures' Godzilla reboot. There hasn't been much talk of big roles for the cast of the sci-fi indie. The film's male lead Scoot McNairy has mentioned to TotalFilm that he is indeed been cast in a large superhero film. He and his publicist don't mention the project but there are lots going into production soon. Let the speculation begin!

The three big ones include Joss Whedon's Avengers, Dark Knight Rises and Zack Snyder's Superman: Man of Steel. The other large scale superhero productions that are starting up soon include Darren Aronofsky's The Wolverine, Edgar Wright's Ant-Man and Tony Scott's Nemesis. I think McNairy would make an excellent Jimmy Olsen in the new Superman.
