FIRST LOOK: Russell Crowe As Jor-El On The Set Of Man Of Steel

Could Christopher Nolan Make Twilight Zone For Warner Bros. ?

ShowBlitz has word that Warner Bros. is trying to nail-down a director to helm their new Twilight Zone project. Unlike the original which featured four directors (Spielberg, John Landis, Joe Dante, George Miller) filming four separate segments honoring the series. This new version will have one director and a single story. The site says that they have interest from Christopher Nolan, Michael Bay and Alfonso Cuarón (Children Of Men). David Yates (Deathly Hollows 1-2) had been interested but moved on, Rupert Wyatt (Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes) is also in the mix.

I was a big fan of Twilight Zone (film/series) and Outer Limits so this project sort of speaks to me. Even without the involvement of Nolan and Cuarón I'd be interested to see how it would turn out. Nolan seems a good bet as he could really reinvent this quirky genre and possibility develop it into a new franchise. The only problem is that Christopher Nolan is a one picture director and is still busy The Dark Knight Rises and I doubt he commit to this until he's in post. Bay seems an uninspiring choice as I'd rather see him make Bad Boys 3 instead of ruining something that could be a thrilling ride with seizure inducing visuals. Cuarón is slowly becoming a darling at the studio making Prisoner Of Azkaban and Gravity with George Clooney/Sandra Bullock starring. Rupert Wyatt could be interesting as this isn't a 20th Century Fox strangle-hold project and he might be able to go a bit darker. Fox more than likely has Rupert locked in for an Apes trilogy and could be asked to return to make another film sooner than later.

Juno Temple Playing Harley Quinn Rumor Resurfaces

This has been mulling around ever since the British actress was initially listed as a possible addition to the cast of The Dark Knight Rises. Yet there is another go at the previous rumor that Juno Temple might very well end up playing Harley Quinn, best known as The Joker's lover/sidekick.

Jeff from ShowBlitz (Variety) says he heard the rumor again and reported it on his Twitter account. Of course it could be people rehashing old rumors but it very well could be legit as well. Knowing Nolan he more than likely would be throwing in as many rouges and characters as he can fit. Quinn seems a likely go between villain, since we won't be seeing Joker. Little known fact, Harley was created from the animated show and not the comic books.

100% RUMOR, no confirmation: Overheard at lunch in Beverly Hills - JUNO TEMPLE may be playing HARLEY QUINN in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

Russell Crowe & Connie Nielsen In Talks To Play Superman's Kryptonian Parents

ShowBlitz reports that Russell Crowe is in talks to play Jor-El, Superman's biological father. It had been rumored that Daniel Day-Lewis and Viggo Mortensen had been offered the part in Zack Snyder's Superman: Man of Steel. GeekTyrant also says Crowe's Gladiator co-star Connie Nielsen has been offered the role of Lara, Superman's mother. It's yet another interesting group of casting for the film that already stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Diane Lane and Kevin Costner.

Josh Stewart Joins The Dark Knight Rises

ShowBlitz reports Josh Stewart has joined the cast of The Dark Knight Rises which is currently in production. His role is unknown but it's likely it would be a small supporting part. He joins newcomers Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Pence, Marion Cotillard, Matthew Modine, Tom Conti, Juno Temple, Alon Aboutboul, Joey King, Brett Cullen, Chris Ellis, Daniel Sunjata, Diego Klattenhoff and Burn Gorman.

Dark Knight Rises Viral Videos Kicking Off New Viral Game?

TheFireRises has been the official Twitter page for the Dark Knight Rises for a week or so. They slowly helped reveal the first image of Bane and apparently have a YouTube account as well. While it's still early it's expected these could be tidbits to start another massive viral campaign. Similar to the "Why So Serious?" viral game that was created for The Dark Knight.

The videos below give us the first clue that points to an outbreak (viral or fear toxin?) and a breakout at Arkham Asylum. Of course these sort of story elements would be seen in a trailer so it's not a solid spoiler. You never know these also could be distractions but it does seem there are glimpses of real footage in there. Yet I believe the footage with Michael Anthony Hall is just re-hashed from Dark Knight. I did however notice what could be Bane rising his arm in the Outbreak video.

Child Actress Joey King Lands Roles In Dark Knight Rises & Oz, The Great & Powerful

ShowBlitz reports that up and coming child actress Joey King (Battle: Los Angeles) has been cast in two rather large films. First she joined The Dark Knight Rises along with new additions Brett Cullen (Apollo 13) and Chris Ellis (Transformers). The role in that film is currently unknown but I wouldn't count out a young Talia al Ghul or Rachel Dawes. The site also reports that Joey has joined Sam Raimi's Oz, The Great & Powerful. Playing China Girl, a young girl made of porcelain who the Wizard (Franco) becomes somewhat of a father figure to after an evil witch (Weisz) kills her family. She joins James Franco, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz.

Matthew Modine Joins The Dark Knight Rises

Variety reports some late additions to The Dark Knight Rises. Matthew Modine (Full Metal Jacket) and Oscar-nominated actor Tom Conti (Reuben, Reuben) have joined the cast. Modine joins a list of 80's cult actors that Nolan seems to enjoy casting in small supporting roles. He carried the much loved Stanley Kubrick Vietnam film Full Metal Jacket so it will be interesting to see where ends up in the Dark Knight Rises.

The expectational cast already includes Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anne Hathaway, Marion Cotillard, Alon Aboutboul, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Nestor Carbonell, Josh Pence, Daniel Sunjata, Burn Gorman, Diego Klattenhoff and Juno Temple.

Joesph Gordon-Levitt & Marion Cotillard Confirmed For Dark Knight Rises

Warner Bros. has finally confirmed both Joesph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard for The Dark Knight Rises. The press release also gives us their roles in the film. Joe will play John Blake, a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon. Marion will play Miranda Tate a Wayne Enterprises board member.

RUMOR: Kryptoian Villain Faora Also In Superman?

LatinoReview is upping their previous rumor of the inclusion of a female Kryptoian villain. They state it's Faora who is an actual character from the comics with ties to Zod. She was the basis for the Richard Donner character Ursa which was featured in Superman II. It was rumored that actresses Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds), Alice Eve and Rosamound Pike were auditioning for the role of a villain and not the role of Lois Lane.

Three Actors Join The Dark Knight Rises

Variety has confirmed that three new actors are expected to join The Dark Knight Rises. They include Daniel Sunjata (Rescue Me), Burn Gorman (Layer Cake) and Diego Klattenhoff. Sunjata is in talks to play a special forces operative while Degio has been offered a role as a rookie cop. Burn will play an unspecified supporting role. They would join new cast members Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joesph Gordon-Levitt, Juno Temple and Josh Pence.

Michael Shannon Officially Playing Zod In Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel

Warner Bros. has finally announced the villain for Zack Snyder's Superman reboot which is now officially titled Man of Steel. Michael Shannon is set to play General Zod and is likely to steal the show. Shannon has been known as a character actor taking smaller roles but came into his own recently with his performance in the first season of HBO's Boardwalk Empire. It's still unknown if Lex Luthor, General Sam Lane or Metallo will also be involved in the film but at least we know Zod is for sure now. Shannon joins an impressive cast that includes Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Kevin Costner.

Josh Pence Joins The Dark Knight Rises

HeatVision reports that Josh Pence who played Tyler Winklevoss (Armie's face was digital placed on Pence's body) in The Social Network is set to join the Dark Knight Rises. Josh will play a young Ras' al Ghul who was played by Liam Neeson in Batman Begins. This is helping fuel previous rumors of Marion Cotillard (Inception) playing his daughter Talia al Ghul. Cotillard confirmed recently she has a summer film set to shoot but couldn't reveal what it was. Pence joins the thriving new supporting cast of Tom Hardy, Joesph Gordon-Levitt, Anne Hathaway and Juno Temple.

RUMOR: General Sam Lane & Metallo Villains Of Superman Reboot?

Yet another crop of possible villains have crept online via ComicBookMovie. This time it's General Sam Lane the father of Lois Lane (Amy Adams) and the military created villain Metallo. General Sam Lane sees Superman as a threat to national security and discovers that kryptonite is a powerful resource using it power Metallo's robotic suit. It seems a little too similar to the plot points of The Incredible Hulk but it might be the best way to ground the character giving a limit to his powers.

Previously there had been concept artwork for the J.J. Abrams/Brett Ratner version of Superman before Bryan Singer came in. One piece of the art has what appears to be the Metallo suit firing off missiles possibly containing kryptonite.

Zack Snyder Confirms His Superman & Nolan's Batman Won't Be In Justice League, Will Have It's Own Takes On The Heroes

HeyUGuys was able to ask director Zack Snyder a Justice League question during the UK premiere of Sucker Punch. They asked how his Superman would fit into DC's answer to the Avengers. Zack stated that both his take on Superman and along with Nolan's Batman won't be involved. They will have a separate take on the heroes.

"It doesn’t. Like what Chris Nolan is doing and what I’m doing with Superman, what they’ll do with Justice League will be it’s own thing with it’s own Batman and own Superman. We’ll be over here with our movie and they kinda get to do it twice which is kinda cool."

It's unknown if Ryan Reynolds' Green Lantern will be included or not. This could give a clue on purposed Batman reboot. That it might still be set in the Gotham City Christopher Nolan has created. There is also the possibility that the established cast could stay in the roles.

Justice League & Wonder Woman Films In The Works

Along with the news of a reboot for Batman Warner Bros' Jeff Robinov also spoke out on other DC hero projects. He confirms that script a for a new Justice League film is currently in the works. It's unknown if this a completely new take or a reworking of the previous script for George Miller's Justice League of America that got scrapped. What is known that Christopher Nolan will likely be involved as he is producing both the Superman and Batman reboots. I wouldn't be shocked to see him also producing Justice League and other future DC films. As it sits Ryan Reynolds and Henry Cavill seem like the only actors set for the film.

He also confirms that The Flash and Wonder Woman are still in development.  Last we heard of Wonder Woman there was a version in the works with Joss Whedon directing and Joel Silver producing. It's possible it could be a different take and be reworked to fall in a similar world of the new films. It's great news as fans have reservations of the new Wonder Woman television series which looks like it could end up really bad. Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive, Pusher Trilogy, Bronson, Logan's Run) had openly campaigned to direct a gritty Wonder Woman film and now that he's directing Warner Bros' Logan's Run it's strong possibility he could be hired. As for Flash,  script had been delivered to the studio back in December but no director has been announced.

Of course this sounds in line with previous talk of the DC heroes taking over for the Harry Potter franchise. So I expect we could be seeing two DC films a year one in the summer and one during the Christmas season. Not mentioned is the fate of the Green Arrow film Supermax written by David S. Goyer (Superman: Man of Steel, Nolan's Batman Films, Blade) or the rumored Aquaman project. If they are on the road of a Justice League film they really should put Supermax back in development as Green Arrow would be needed to ground the film slightly as he doesn't have superpowers. One thing that grounds the Avengers is the fact that characters like Hawkeye, Black Widow, Maria Hill and Nick Fury don't have superpowers but are still great heroes.

Warner Bros. Rebooting Batman After Dark Knight Rises & Nolan Will Produce

This was expected but it hasn't been confirmed until now. Warner Bros' Jeff Robinov confirmed to HeroComplex that after The Dark Knight Rises the studio will reboot the character so that it can be included in a Justice League film. The surprising part is that Christopher Nolan and his wife/partner Emma Thomas will be contributing as producers and I assume also as character consultants. It would fall in line with their involvement with the new Superman reboot. There is no word if Christian Bale will reprise the role in the reboot but it's very likely to keep the Nolan films seperate they will recast. This could also open the door for Robin and Batgirl to return along with the colorful rouges gallery that could never be in a Nolan film.

"Batman will continue to be a centerpiece property beyond next year’s 'The Dark Knight Rises' and Nolan’s departure from the franchise. "We have the third Batman, but then we’ll have to reinvent Batman." Asked whether that meant he wanted to reinvent or possibly even reboot the character, Robinov answered assertively: "I do. Chris Nolan and [producing partner and wife] Emma Thomas will be producing it, so it will be a conversation with them about what the next phase is."
