Amanda Seyfried Offered Cosette Role In Les Miserables

Twitch reports that Amanda Seyfried has been offered the role of Cosette in Tom Hooper's (King's Speech) Les Miserables. The high profiled musical already boasts an impressive cast that includes Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen. Seyfried seems like a decent choice as she was apart of the successful Mama Mia! film. A majority of the casting decisions seem like Hooper is on roll so far. 

Taylor Swift has been offered the role of Eponine. Scarlett Johansson had been linked for the role and seemed an inspired casting choice since she can sing as well as she can act. While Swift is still learning the craft of acting and could feel out of place alongside these vets and heavyweights. Either way I'm interested in the film which is saying a lot as I'm not a big fan of musicals. Les Miserables will be released on December 7th of this year.

Scarlett Johansson Could Join Les Miserables

NewYorkPost is reporting that a few actresses are now testing for roles (Cossette and Eponine) in Tom Hoopers' (King's Speech) Les Miserables. The actresses include Taylor Swift, Lea Michele, Scarlett Johansson and Evan Rachel Wood. The first two seem like names to keep the studio happy but won't ultimately get the parts.

The cast already features Hugh Jackman is Jean Valjean, Russell Crowe is Inspector Javert, Anne Hathaway is playing Fantine (Cossette's desperately poor mother) and Eddie Redmayne is Marius (Cossette's love and French revoutionary). Geoffrey Rush who played Javert in the 90's film is rumored for the role of Monsieur Thenardier.

I haven't been too interested in the project up to this point but I feel if they do end up getting Scarlett in there I might have to check it out. That being said if it's an awards bait musical they should be getting actors who can sing, not singers who could act.

Joesph Gordon-Levitt & Marion Cotillard Confirmed For Dark Knight Rises

Warner Bros. has finally confirmed both Joesph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard for The Dark Knight Rises. The press release also gives us their roles in the film. Joe will play John Blake, a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon. Marion will play Miranda Tate a Wayne Enterprises board member.

Juno Temple Confirmed For Dark Knight Rises

Variety has confirmed that Juno Temple (Atonement) has joined The Dark Knight Rises. It's unknown who the up and coming actress will be playing but the role is described as "a street-smart Gotham girl". Previous rumors have suggested Harley Quinn or Robin (Carrie Kelly/Stephanie Brown) but it's likely just a small role. Temple joins Batman newbies Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway and recently confirmed Joesph Gordon-Levitt.

Joesph Gordon-Levitt Confirmed For Dark Knight Rises, Juno Temple Could Also Join

Variety confirms that Joesph Gordon-Levitt (Inception) has been cast in The Dark Knight Rises. His role is unknown at this point but it's been hinted he could be either an ally or enemy of Batman. They also add that Juno Temple (Atonement) is in talks for a supporting role of a street smart Gotham girl. Temple had previously been in the running for the lead in Bryan Singer's Jack The Giant Killer.

Gary Oldman Confirms Catwoman Costume & Another Villain

During press for his upcoming film Red Riding Hood Gary Oldman talked about The Dark Knight Rises. He didn't give solid answers to questions he gave another tidbits to wet any fan's appetite. Gary first said that a classic Batman villain has yet to be revealed via UK's EOnline. He also confirmed to Flicks&Bits a costume for Anne Hathaway as he was privy to Catwoman concept artwork.

"I think it's a villain from one of the old, old, from way back from the old comics. It is a Batman villian... It's not going to be the Joker....I think she'll probably wear the cat suit pretty well, don't you?"


"I went to the production offices the other day and there’s all these fantastic pictures across the wall, Catwoman, this, that, and I thought where’s my wall? I don’t have a wall, I just have a rack of very very dull clothes (laughs). I’m looking forward to working with the gang again, Academy Award winning Christian Bale, I bet he won’t get my coffee anymore (laughs)."

If they are going with a classic/old school villain it could end up being Deadshot (1950), Calender Man (1958), Clayface (1940), Solomon Grundy (1944), Hugo Strange (1940), Talia al Ghul (1971), The Penguin (1941), Mad Hatter (1948) or Killer Moth (1951). I would have included both Freeze and Riddler but Nolan has previously stated that neither will be in the film. Talia, Deadshot, Hugo Strange and Calender Man seem like the best bet of bunch. Yet I wouldn't rule out a Nolan version of Red Hood.

RUMOR: League of Shadows Returning For Dark Knight Rises?

There is an interesting and more believable rumor circling online today concerning possible plot points of The Dark Knight Rises. This time BadassDigest says that we will be seeing the return of League of Shadows, the mysterious vigilante group that trained Bruce Wayne in Batman Begins. They go on to reveal that Talia al Ghul (Marion Cotillard?), Bane (Tom Hardy) and whoever Joseph Gordon-Levitt is playing will be leading them.

The League was my favorite part of Begins and bringing them back could make for an excellent ending to the trilogy. This rumor seems a lot more plausible than the previous ones as it sounds in line with Nolan's more reality based plots and villains. Having the group exact revenge on Gotham and Wayne for their fallen leader/father (Ras' al Ghul) sounds fitting. Also talk of Nolan globetrotting/scouting locations in Europe, Asia and India could fit with the League of Shadows as they are an international group.

Anne Hathaway Confirms Playing Catwoman In Dark Knight Rises, Not Just Selena Kyle

There had been a question when it was announced that Anne Hathaway was cast in The Dark Knight Rises if she'd also be playing Catwoman as well. Now the actress has come out and given a bit of a confirmation on Oprah. As secretive as this third film is any tidbit of story information is big. It's unknown what incarnation we'll be seeing but I can bet that it won't be anything like the Tim Burton version.

Marion Cotillard In Talks To Join Dark Knight Rises

HollywoodReporter confirms the rumor that actress Marion Cotillard is in talks to join The Dark Knight Rises in a unknown role. Many believe it's Talia al Ghul the daughter of the villain Ra's al Ghul. Yet if the film is taking influences from The Long Halloween I wouldn't be surprised if she's playing Sofia Falcone the daughter of the Gotham Ctiy mobster Carmine Falcone last scene in Batman Begins.








RUNDOWN OF PREVIOUS CASTING ANNOUNCEMENTS/RUMORS:

It would fit perfectly with the rumor that Joseph Gordon-Levitt (currently also in talks) is playing Alberto Falcone who is also the Holiday Killer. The recent New York pickup shots of a snowy Manhattan suggests that the Holiday Killer is likely involved. Now that Sal Maroni is dead it would seem likely someone else would have to run Falcone's crime family. Yet I wouldn't rule out JGL playing Black Mask or Harvey Bullock.



The Falcone family would also fit nicely with Selina Kyle's story as in the comics she's the illegitimate daughter of Carmine Falcone and tries to find a place in the crime family. I'd personally rather see Kyle as a power player in the mob instead of a costumed thief. I still think Nolan's Batman films work because Wayne is the only one in such an elaborate costume.


I'm not sure how Tom Hardy's Bane would fit into this but would make an excellent partner to whoever Joseph is playing. As the pair were amazing together in Inception. If Talia is indeed involved I wouldn't rule out Bane being a member of the League of Shadows.







There is also still hope that Robin Williams could take on the role of Hugo Strange. I think it would the right amount of villains compared to the other movies and Nolan is perfectly comfortable with sizable casts/characters in his films. Strange could make an excellent side villain similar to Dr. Crane in Batman Begins.

Joseph Gordon Levitt In Talks For Dark Knight Rises

Deadline is reporting that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is talks for a role in The Dark Knight Rises. This brings us back to the original rumor that Hardy, JGL and DiCaprio were testing for roles in the film. Hardy is in playing Bane and now Joseph is being linked as well. It's very doubtful we'll see Leonardo involved as he's starting production soon on Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar. They don't name the role but it's likely it could be the long rumored addition of Detective Harvey Bullock, Black Mask or Deadshot.

RUMOR: Robin Williams Playing Hugo Strange In Dark Knight Rises?

The Dark Knight Rises rumor of the day comes from both Batman-News and Batman-On-Film who believe Robin Williams could be playing Hugo Strange. Robin Williams has stated before he'd love to be in one of the new Nolan films. He previously had been pursed for the role of the Joker in Tim Burton's Batman and Riddler for Batman Forever. Williams has worked with Christopher Nolan before as the villain in Insomnia.

It had been long rumored that Tom Hardy was going to play Hugo but was officially cast as Bane. Hardy seemed way too young to play older villain. Robin on the other hand seems like the perfect actor to take on the role. He's had a steady stream of badass roles in films like Good Will Hunting, One Hour Photo and Insomnia. Nolan has previously used more than one villain in the previous films so it does seem likely. Of course like with any rumor until it's confirmed by the studio it's just wishful thinking.

Mike White Not Directing Pride & Prejudice & Zombies

Deadline reports that Mike White has dropped out as director for Pride & Prejudice & Zombies. This is the second director who left the production. This time it's a contract conflict as White is obligated to work for HBO during Lionsgate's production timetable for the film.

The casting could also be in jeopardy as Anne Hathaway had been in talks along with James McAvoy to star in the movie. Anne is now starring in The Dark Knight Rises and might not be able to commit. Previously David O'Russell (The Fighter, Three Kings) was expected to direct Scarlett Johansson and Bradley Cooper in it before they all dropped out. Natalie Portman who was originally set to star is still producing.

Anne Hathaway Is Catwoman & Tom Hardy Is Bane In Dark Knight Rises

Warner Bros. has sent out the official press release that Anne Hathaway has joined The Dark Knight Rises. Anne will play Selina Kyle the sleek thief that is also known as Catwoman. Also in the press release they announce that Tom Hardy will play the villain Bane. It will be interesting to see which versions of the characters will be in the film. Knowing Christopher Nolan's love for large casts I believe we could be seeing more characters and actors announced in the coming weeks.

We've seen some supernatural elements involved with Catwoman's origin in Batman Returns. Yet I expect we'll see Selina Kyle as more of a regular love interest and possible ally of Batman. On the other hand Kyle could also end up playing both sides playing both lover and enemy.

It should be a redemption for the character of Bane since he's been portrayed as mindless muscle bound brute. This goes against the original character who is brilliant and also plays both sides. Even working alongside Batman on a few occasions.

Kate Mara, Jessica Biel & Charlotte Riley Testing For Dark Knight Rises

It looks like that Dark Knight Rises casting information from Collider isn't as solid as first thought. HeatVision has a new shortlist of actresses who are testing for the two lead female roles. The list includes previously reported names like Keria Knighley and Anne Hathaway but now lists Kate Mara (127 Hours, Iron Man 2), Jessica Biel and newcomer Charlotte Riley who is engaged to Tom Hardy. While this report doesn't include Eva Green or Naomi Watts they however confirm previous reports of Talia al Ghul as being one of the roles.

Gemma Arterton was also a hopeful but could be out of the running with her signing on to star alongside Jeremy Renner in Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters.

Anne Hathaway & James McAvoy Joining Pride & Prejudice & Zombies?

Lionsgate announced Mike White would take over directing duties on Pride & Prejudice & Zombies. When David O'Russell exited the horror comedy to focus on Drake's Fortune. There had been rumors of interest from Scarlett Johansson, Bradley Cooper, Mia Wasikowska, Tilda Swinton, and Catherine O’Hara.

Pajiba reports Anne Hathaway is under consideration to play Elizabeth Bennett. She's also being linked to Barbarella, Dark Knight Rises, Alien Prequel, Superman: Man of Steel and was cast in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 4 before it got axed. Her Becoming Jane co-star James McAvoy (X-Men First Class) is up for the role of Mr. Darcy.

RUMOR: Anne Hathaway Up For Barbarella?

 Not much news has been coming out of the Barbarella remake since director Robert Rodriguez left the project. Rodriguez had sets built with Rose McGowan ready to play the sexy sci-fi character. Last we heard Robert Luketic was going to direct and Jessica Biel was likely to be the lead.

  Now there is word from Pajiba that Anne Hathaway is the newest actress "attached" for Barbarella. It wouldn't be hard to imagine since she's been rumored for auditioning for Dark Knight Rises, Superman: Man of Steel and Ridley Scott's Alien Prequel.
