Twitch reports that Amanda Seyfried has been offered the role of Cosette in Tom Hooper's (King's Speech) Les Miserables. The high profiled musical already boasts an impressive cast that includes Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen. Seyfried seems like a decent choice as she was apart of the successful Mama Mia! film. A majority of the casting decisions seem like Hooper is on roll so far.
Taylor Swift has been offered the role of Eponine. Scarlett Johansson had been linked for the role and seemed an inspired casting choice since she can sing as well as she can act. While Swift is still learning the craft of acting and could feel out of place alongside these vets and heavyweights. Either way I'm interested in the film which is saying a lot as I'm not a big fan of musicals. Les Miserables will be released on December 7th of this year.

FILMS THAT SHOULD BE MADE: Cadillacs And Dinosaurs
What started out as a basic beat-em-up video game from Capcom based on a comic book series, spawning a Saturday morning cartoon on CBS and a toyline in the 90's. Cadillacs and Dinosaurs featured a futuristic world where dinosaurs have been repopulated and Earth has reverted to a prehistorical state. It was sort of hybrid of Jurassic Park, King Kong, Mad Max and Indiana Jones. A majority of video game/toyline films don't have such a weird blend of these type of adventure genres which were originally pulled from films to begin with. It seems like a prime candidate to get a film in the future. If anything, it's more interesting than a most of the films in development currently.
Considering the slew of alien-focused genre films being grind out by studios it would be nice see dinosaurs make their glorious return to the big screen. I could see this as some massive summer blockbuster 3D spectacle, even though I'm not fully sold on 3D's overall effectiveness for entertainment. It would also bring in the science fiction aspect since it involved aliens too.
MY CASTING THOUGHTS:
-Jon Hamm As Jack Tenrec
-Scarlett Johansson as Hannah Dundee
Scarlett Johansson Could Join Les Miserables
NewYorkPost is reporting that a few actresses are now testing for roles (Cossette and Eponine) in Tom Hoopers' (King's Speech) Les Miserables. The actresses include Taylor Swift, Lea Michele, Scarlett Johansson and Evan Rachel Wood. The first two seem like names to keep the studio happy but won't ultimately get the parts. The cast already features Hugh Jackman is Jean Valjean, Russell Crowe is Inspector Javert, Anne Hathaway is playing Fantine (Cossette's desperately poor mother) and Eddie Redmayne is Marius (Cossette's love and French revoutionary). Geoffrey Rush who played Javert in the 90's film is rumored for the role of Monsieur Thenardier.
I haven't been too interested in the project up to this point but I feel if they do end up getting Scarlett in there I might have to check it out. That being said if it's an awards bait musical they should be getting actors who can sing, not singers who could act.
David Hayter Talks About His Axed Black Widow Film
Back in the 2000's Lionsgate and Marvel Entertainment were developing a live-action Black Widow movie with David Hayter set to write and direct. David talked to FemPop revealing what happened to the film and some of the plot points. A slew of poorly made and unsuccessful female led action films basically sabotaged it's progress. It would get the axe and the rights reverted back to Marvel. Later on the character was eventually added to Iron Man 2 with Scarlett Johansson in the role.
Currently Marvel Studios is open to making a solo film with Johansson and have talked about developing a new treatment with writers. Anything is possible after the likely success of the Avengers. Johansson has signed an extensive picture deal with Marvel which means that they really only have to announce it.
"What I tried to do was use the backdrop of the splintered Soviet Empire – a lawless insane asylum with four hundred some odd nuclear missile silos. It was all about loose nukes, and I felt it was very timely and very cool. Unfortunately, as I was coming up on the final draft, a number of female vigilante movies came out. We had Tomb Raider and Kill Bill, which were the ones that worked, but then we had BloodRayne and Ultraviolet and Aeon Flux. Aeon Flux didn’t open well, and three days after it opened, the studio said, “We don’t think it’s time to do this movie.” I accepted their logic in terms of the saturation of the marketplace, but it was pretty painful. I had not only invested a lot of time in that movie, but I had also named my daughter, who was born in that time period Natasha – after the lead character in Black Widow. I named my daughter after a movie that I wasn’t working on anymore."

FIRST LOOK: Scarlett Johansson In Under The Skin
This project seems to have gone under the radar but Jonathan Glazer's (Sexy Beast, Birth) adaptation of Michael Faber's novel Under The Skin is currently shooting in Scotland. Surprisingly Scarlett Johansson is in the lead playing an alien who takes on an attractive female form to lure human prey in the Scottish Highlands. The rest of the cast is unknown at this point according to ThePlaylist but I wouldn't be surprised if Glazer was hiring local Scottish actors to fill the other roles.

Could Scarlet Witch Become An Asgardian In Thor 2?
We've been hearing a bit on the progress of Thor 2 but nothing concerning villains or new characters. It's been reported that we could see the cast of Asgardians double. So that means we could see at least six new characters in the sequel. One character that's been knocked around since Iron Man 2 is Scarlet Witch.Yes, in the comics she is a mutant and the daughter of Magneto. However, she's been more active in The Avengers and West Coast Avengers comics and has magic based powers. This might exclude her from the X-Men/Fox deal and that she very well show up in Marvel Studios' films. Previously director Jon Favreau had Scarlett Johansson in mind for the part when Witch was originally included in Iron Man 2. Emily Blunt vacated the Black Widow role which was filled by Johansson leading to the character to be cut from the film. I don't think Kevin Feige would have even allowed Jon to play with the idea unless they actually have control of the character. I could see the studio making Witch an Asgardian since it's a good way to reinvent the character for the screen.
It wouldn't be the first time Marvel has reinvented a character to fit their Cinematic Universe. Bucky Barnes, Black Widow, Whiplash, Justin Hammer, Jane Foster and Thor have all had their characters retooled to fit the films so it wouldn't be shocking to see it happen again. My thought is that Scarlet could end up being one of the many new Asgardians in Thor 2. Thor's rogues gallery is full and colorful his group of cohorts is somewhat unbalanced. The amount of villains out weights the group of allies and friends, considering the scale of this fantasy world. We should expect characters like Balder (The Brave), Amora (The Enchantress), Skurge (The Executioner) and Brunhilde (Valkyrie) but the impression I get is that we could see the studio give us even more. Scarlet is also a prolific member of the Avengers so she could make an excellent addition to the mostly male lineup.
If I had to choose someone to play the heroine it would be Ruth Wilson who is best known from the BBC series Luther and The Prisoner mini-series. She's also attached for the female lead in Disney's The Lone Ranger alongside Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer.
Clear Look At Hawkeye & New Black Widow Costumes
JustJared has posted new Avengers set images. I haven't been posting many of the Avengers set photos mainly because a majority of them are spoiler filled. These new ones are more costume based and show off the looks of Hawkeye and Black Widow.
Could This Be Black Widow's Avengers Costume?
Recently we heard that in the Avengers we would see new costumes for a majority of the cast. It was confirmed that Hawkeye, Captain America and Thor would see changes. Black Widow was also mentioned and Scarlett Johansson was sporting a new cropped Widow hairstyle recently. While looking for concept artwork I came across this image from the Iron Man 2 art book which features a different take on the Black Widow costume. The thing that caught my attention is that the unused concept art has Black Widow with a similar hairstyle that Scarlett had shown off. Could this be what Widow's new Avengers outfit will look like?
Here's a larger version of the concept artwork. You can notice this a variant and looks more like a classic SHIELD costume. The quality isn't great as it's a screen shot from a video. Also unused was Widow's classic hourglass belt which I also hope makes Avengers.

Marvel's Kevin Feige Talks Black Widow, Hawkeye & S.H.I.E.L.D Films
During a Thor interview with ThePlaylist Kevin Feige gives a bit more insight into Marvel Studios' spin-offs in development. The long talked about S.H.I.E.L.D film is mentioned along with bigger talk of Black Widow and Hawkeye solo films. I still think Widow and Hawkeye should be a team-up film instead of solo movies but you never know with Marvel.
"There’s no definitive plans, but we have started talking and talking with Scarlett about what a Widow movie could be. Internally we’ve also started thinking what a ‘Hawkeye’ movie could be, how we could continue to explore the organization [which Samuel Jackson‘s Nick Fury leads] S.H.I.E.L.D, which has a pretty big part in ‘Thor,’ smaller parts in the two ‘Iron Man’ films and has a giant part in ‘The Avengers.’ [So it’s like], what would a stand-alone “S.H.I.E.L.D.” be like? It all goes back to the comics. Sometimes the answer is—when looking at a certain run of issues— ‘no way’ and sometimes the answer is ‘maybe, let’s continue to explore it’ and certainly with Hawkeye and Black Widow those are two that we’re exploring."
Kevin also said that the next lineup for the 2013-2014 schedule will be announced later this summer which could mean Comic-Con in July. It's unknown if Marvel will have a second film released in 2012. However it's known that Iron Man 3 is set for May 3rd 2013. The list of possible films include Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, Iron Fist and Luke Cage (Power Man). Sequels and spin-offs could also be candidates.

Natalie Portman & Stellan Skarsgård Confirmed For Avengers
It looks like there will be more cross-pollinating in the Marvel universe. BadTaste has word from Chris Hemsworth that Natalie Portman will be returning as Jane Foster in The Avengers. It was also recently mentioned by Stellan Skarsgård himself that he would be reprising his role of Professor Erik Selvig in the film as well. They join an already impressive cast that includes Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Clark Gregg and Cobie Smulders.
This news makes me wonder if Pepper Potts and Rhodey/War Machine will eventually show up in the film as well. As both Don Cheadle and Gwyneth Paltrow have given the impression neither had been approached and will stay in the Iron Man films.

David O'Russell Wants Scarlett Johansson For Uncharted
During an interview with Empire the Oscar nominated director was asked about his upcoming action film Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. While Empire suggested Amy Adams, David mentioned Scarlett Johansson for the role of journalist Elena. It seems like a perfect fit as Johansson is going to gather a lot of heat from her role in Avengers . She was also expected to star in Pride & Prejudice & Zombies when O'Russell was on board to direct.
Mark Wahlberg is set to play Drake while Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci are still mentioned for having roles in the film.

Mike White Not Directing Pride & Prejudice & Zombies
Deadline reports that Mike White has dropped out as director for Pride & Prejudice & Zombies. This is the second director who left the production. This time it's a contract conflict as White is obligated to work for HBO during Lionsgate's production timetable for the film.
The casting could also be in jeopardy as Anne Hathaway had been in talks along with James McAvoy to star in the movie. Anne is now starring in The Dark Knight Rises and might not be able to commit. Previously David O'Russell (The Fighter, Three Kings) was expected to direct Scarlett Johansson and Bradley Cooper in it before they all dropped out. Natalie Portman who was originally set to star is still producing.

Mike White Could Direct Pride, Prejudice & Zombies
Deadline reports Lionsgate has put out an offer to comedic writer and actor Mike White to direct Pride Prejudice & Zombies. White is best know for smaller roles in comedy films and writing School of Rock. It will be interesting to see if indeed Scarlett Johansson and Bradley Cooper who are rumored end up starring.
Johansson To Play Seductive Alien In Under The Skin
Deadline reports that Scarlett Johansson is attached to Under The Skin co-written and directed by Jonathan Glazer (Sexy Beast, Birth). Johansson plays an alien on earth, disguised as a mesmerizing woman who uses her voracious sexuality to scour remote highways and desolate scenery to snare human prey. Glazer's Sexy Beast is still one of my favorite British gangster pictures so I'm very excited to see him tackle science fiction.

Pride, Prejudice & Zombies Could Star Johansson & Cooper
Now that David O'Russell has left Pride, Prejudice & Zombies to focus on Uncharted and Natalie Portman has also walked. Deadline has some interesting developments while there is a director race for the film which includes the front-runner Mike Newel (Prince of Persia, Donnie Brasco) it seems Scarlett Johansson and Brdley Cooper are attached to star.

How Marvel Should Approach The SHIELD Film: PART I [Black Widow]
I'm going to break down how I believe Marvel could be successful in bringing together the SHIELD film. While the Avengers is made up of Marvel's mightiest heroes, SHIELD on the other hand is mostly highly skilled humans. I believe while they have many superhero films there are many different types of action films they could be emulating for their human characters. Similar to the Avengers the main four characters will be have their own solo films. Nick Fury, Black Widow and Hawkeye have their own films currently in development. Hopefully this could lead up to the SHIELD film and be more of a traditional team based espionage action film. My first installment will focus on the femme fatale Natasha Romanoff better known as Black Widow and what her solo film should look like.
MY THOUGHTS: I could see Natasha sent into the world of arms-dealing to see which people are supplying HYDRA with high end technology and weapons. This might lead Widow becoming a mole in A.I.M. which could be led by Baron von Strucker. Along the way she could be pursued by Yelena Belova who is notoriously determined to kill Natasha. I also believe the involvement of superpowers should really be limited here. Like the Iron Man series real world technology and weapons should be the threat. In this case armament of a new HYDRA organization which is looking to terrorize the world. I'm unsure how HYDRA is going to be referenced in Captain America but A.I.M. could be great way to slowly introduce the SHIELD nemesis. MOVIE INFLUENCES: I'd like to see the studio to use the [Martin Campbell] Bond angle with the Black Widow film. I feel that a stright up spy film could end up defining the character along with showing off her espionage and fighting skills. If they choose to include her origin being raised as an assassin they could barrow elements from La Femme Nikita.
WHO SHOULD DIRECT?: Well my personal preference would be someone who hasn't made a big splash in the world of comic book or action films. My first thought while going over movie influences was of director Andrew Niccol. He has had a decent track record of sleek and interesting films. My favorite of his films being Lord of War and Gattaca. I feel he could bring a wonderful energy and vision to the character.

Marvel Moving Forward With Black Widow Solo Film

Back before Comic-Con it was still unconfirmed if Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow would end up in the final lineup of The Avengers. Now with her role in the superhero epic cemented it looks like Marvel Studios is indeed committed to the heroine. Kevin Feige recently told the reporters (MTV) during the Iron Man 2 DVD press conference they are pursing Scarlett to reprise her role as Black Widow in her own solo film post-Avengers.
"We've already started discussions with Scarlett about the idea of a solo movie and have begun putting together concepts,"....."'The Avengers' comes first."

JGL & ScarJo Interested In Zombie Rom-Com Breathers

Based on the novel by S.G. Browne and produced by Diablo Cody (Juno) Breathers: A Zombie Lament has apparently attracted Joesph Gordon-Levitt and Scarlett Johansson. Pajiba reports the two actors are loosely attached for the project while they shop around for a director. The novel focuses on Andy, a dead man who discovers himself newly re-animated as a mid-aged, decaying zombie who must figure out what it means to live as an Un-dead in a society that denies his kind basic rights.
