You might remember Jim Sturgress had been previously cast as Peter Parker in the Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark. Now there is talk from Hollywood News he's been offered the lead role in the reboot. Sturgress is someone I could deal with playing Spidey but I wouldn't campaign for him. Considering some other names being thrown around include Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. That would be enough for Spider-Man fans to really question the intentions of Sony if they hire either of those horrible "actors".
