Franchises Rodriguez & Troublemaker Need To Resurrect

It seems like Robert Rodriguez could actually be on the right track to revitalize the Predator franchise. So I'm wondering what other cool genre films Rodriguez and Troublemaker Studios could be able to resurrect. Rodriguez was previously involved in remaking Clash of The Titans and Barbarella before leaving the projects.

When I think of Robert Rodriguez action films I think of directors like John Carpenter, James Cameron, Paul Verhoeven and James McTiernan. He's been able to tap into each of the these directors with his films. Planet Terror is the greatest example which seemed to be an homage to every genre film from the 80s.

TOTAL RECALL: This one isn't much of franchise but will be remade. It did spawn a television series which could allow it to count. While I hate the idea of this reboot it's going to happen. The only way of saving it would be to have Rodriguez and his Troublemker Studios updating it. While honoring the exploitative and subversive nature of the original. I believe strongly that Recall and the Robocop reboot will be the most difficult since the originals were so well made.

TERMINATOR: Like it or not there will be more Terminator films made. While Terminator Salvation was a great step in the right direction it was a mess of a film. It had too many issues with the script and tone. Hopefully if they try again Rodriguez could pump in the new blood needed to save the franchise from itself. Unlike McG I believe Rodriguez could get the blessing of James Cameron.

ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK: While some might believe this doesn't need reboot it's been around for almost 30 years. I think it's old enough to be remade. While the thought of director of Brett Ratner ever touching this film made me cringe. I didn't think it was all that bad of an idea to bring in Gerard Butler and do the reboot. Even making it a low budget exploitation film could be interesting.

HIGHLANDER: It spawned five live-action films, three television series and animated film. The world is full of possibilities and lends itself more to a reboot. Since there seems to be way too many different origins and timelines for the immortals. The second film tried to explain them as banished aliens which was beyond bizarre. There is also too much confusion between Connor and Duncan. It's up for a reboot and I think if done properly it could end up very cool since the mythology is rich and vast. It could span from 500 years in the past to 200 years in the future depending on which angle they go with. I think it would be interesting to see Robert mixing a period action film with futuristic science fiction.

STARSHIP TROOPERS: With two unbearable sequels this property has run out steam. I could see studios getting the sci-fi action bug with the massive success of Avatar. So why not bring back of the best sci-fi cult films of the 90's? I'm still shocked this film spawned a children' show. This is the biggest long shot since I don't believe there is any intent to reboot it.
