REVIEW: The Slammin' Salmon

I have to admit I've been wary of comedies in the last two years. They seem to be over hyped like The Hangover , average like Funny People or plan awful. Slammin' Salmon on the other hand was executed very well. The Broken Lizard crew always seem to bring the funny when they get together and don't go off to do their own thing. While this doesn't have as many laugh out loud moments as Super Troopers it had just enough. These guys always seem to work very well with their supporting cast no matter how obscure they are. Even the actors who played the costumers were funny. It proves that good comedies don't have to be packed with Gerard Butler or some unlikely television actress co-starring to have chemistry. The comedic timing and outrageous nature of Broken Lizard was in full force here. I have to highly recommend this film too bad it didn't get a wider release. It does however come out on DVD April 13th so this one is a must rent/buy.

There are a few side notes I'd like to mention. First the breakout performance from the lovely April Bowlby who plays Mia in the film. She really made the movie more enjoyable I can see her making a career in comedies. With most of the other actresses in the film falling flat. April made up for it with her bubbly attitude and actually being funny. I could see her taking larger roles in the future. I also have to mention the cameo from Attack of The Show's Olivia Munn. The best cameo out of the bunch Olivia seemed confident with her lines and like April shined in the film.
