Will This Helicarrier Concept Artwork Be Used In Avengers?
Avengers doesn't start production until March but there is talk we could be seeing the Helicarrier and super-prison The Cube featured in the film. Now SpiderMedia (via CBM) got their hands on some concept artwork for SHIELD's Helicarrier. It would have appeared in Iron Man 2 but was shelved to be used later on. Kevin Feige teased bringing a model of the Helicarrier to Comic-Con next summer to promote the epic superhero movie.

RUMOR: Chris Pine Could Be The Flash
Warner Bros. is getting ready to move forward with both The Dark Knight Rises and Superman: Man of Steel along with the release of Green Lantern in June. Next up is The Flash which should have it's script finished by Christmas. Bradley Cooper had been rumored to be the studio's favorite for the lead but he would go on to deny it. Cooper had been close to becoming Hal Jordon in Green Lantern before Ryan Reynolds signed on. Now there is word from ScreenRant Chris Pine (Star Trek) is the next best choice for Barry Allen. I'm not sure I can believe this since Pine had been rumored for Captain America too but nothing came of it. I'm sure Star Trek 2 could conflict with the film's production as well. I doubt they would start casting the film without a director in place first.

Olivia Wilde Also Up For Alien Prequels, Noomi Is Ridley's Top Choice
Deadline reports that Olivia Wilde (Tron Legacy, Cowboys & Aliens) has joined the list of candidates for the female lead in the Alien Prequels. She joins Noomi Rapace (Dragon Tattoo, Sherlock Holmes 2), Natalie Portman (Thor, Black Swan), Carey Mulligan and Abbie Cornish (Sucker Punch). They also report Noomi is director Ridley Scott's top choice for the role but the studio has the ultimate pick. Her accent is an issue with 20th Century Fox but I don't think Swedish actors have much problems with pulling off American accents.

Depp & Theron Offered Roles In Snow White & The Huntsman?
Snow White & The Huntsman is becoming very interesting with it's current casting talk. TheWrap reports Universal has offered the Huntsman role to Johnny Depp. Tom Hardy has also been linked to the role yet could be too busy to take on the project. I'm sure Universal is trying to capture some of the magic and success from Depp's Alice In Wonderland. The studio has also announced the film's release date which is now set for December 21st 2012. ThePlaylist reports that Charlize Theron could be cast in the role of the evil queen Ravenna.

Simon Pegg Would Rather Play The Villain Than The Hero In Ant-Man
When writer/director Edgar Wright first started working on the Ant-Man script people assumed the lead role would go to his longtime collaborator Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz, Spaced, Shaun of The Dead). Pegg has since gone on to make a name for himself in Hollywood with MI3, Star Trek, Tintin, Burke & Hare, Paul, Star Trek 2 and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. Pegg was asked about his involvement in the project by ViewLondon (via CBM) and said he wouldn't want to play the hero of the film. He'd rather play the film's villain if offered instead. I love the thought of Simon playing Ultron, Egghead or one of the other villains. With Nathan Fillion and Eva Longloria rumored for the film's leads the roles could be already filled unless Pegg is referring to Scott Lang who has been confirmed to be included in the film. I feel Pegg has enough of the heroic roles currently and in his future that it would be nice to see him play a villain.

John Carpenter To Direct Darkchylde
Months back Weta Workshop (Lord of The Rings, King Kong, District 9, Avatar, Hobbit) posted test footage of their work on a Darkchylde adaption based on the popular comics. It looked like it was put together to help investors and directors commit to the project. The footage is somewhat promising but they didn't have a director at the time. Now ComicBookMovie has the official press release naming John Carpenter as the film's director. Carpenter is a legend in the world of horror making films like The Thing, Halloween, Escape From New York, Big Trouble In Little China, They Live, The Fog, Vampires, Starman, Prince of Darkness, Christine, In The Mouth of Madness, Assault On Precinct 13 and Ghosts of Mars.

Characters From Wolverine 2 Leak, The Return of Yuriko?
Pajiba has posted character descriptions and plot points for Wolverine 2. While I'm tempted to re-post the spoilers I'm just going to mention the characters from the comics that have made the cut. They list Mariko, Silver Samurai, Viper and The Hand. It shouldn't be long before Fox officially announces the cast. I'm glad they've stuck to their guns and avoided the dreaded overload of mutant cameos so far.
Included is the return of Yuriko who showed up in X2 as Lady Deathstrike. Of course it's not a spoiler to reveal Yuriko worked alongside Logan during his Japanese adventures. I don't expect that she would be referred to Deathstrike since Stryker was the one to give her the adamantium skeleton/nails. Considering they've changed actors with Sabertooth I would assume Yuriko would also get a new actor. The group of female characters does also confirm the previous talk of multiple love stories in the film. Since Logan has romantic history with Mariko, Yuriko and Viper.

FIRST LOOK: Awesome Stills From Captain America
EW has the first official stills from Joe Johnston's Captain America. All I can say is wow! The project has been compared to Indiana Jones meets Rocketeer and these images back up the claim. We get our first glimpses of Cap, Red Skull, Dr. Zola, Peggy Carter and Hydra Soliders. I love the look of the film let's just hope it ends up working. It's expected we'll see the first trailer this December with Tron Legacy.

RUMOR: Hardy Playing Bullock In Dark Knight Rises?
CinemaBlend picked up on IMDB adding Tom Hardy's role in The Dark Knight Rises. The site lists Tom as Detective Harvey Bullock who is a well known supporting character and has been both villain and friend to Batman. Of course IMDB isn't the best source for these type of speculations but it's still interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if this is true and Hardy ends up in a non-villainous role.

James Cameron's Next Films Will Be Avatar 2 & Avatar 3
Deadline has the official press release from 20th Century Fox that James Cameron will start working on Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 which will be shot back-to-back. It's not surprising considering the first film grossed 2.8 billion that Fox/Cameron would want to return to Pandora. The films will be released December 2014 and 2015 respectfully.
Dark Knight Rises Is Official Title For Batman 3
HeroComplex was able to speak with Christopher Nolan about Batman 3. He first confirmed the third film's title is The Dark Knight Rises. The film wont be shot in 3D but more likely 2D IMX. Nolan clears up villain rumors that the Riddler will not be the film's villain. Previously Nolan dismissed ever using Mr. Freeze either. It's great to see Nolan avoiding science fiction and supernatural story elements keeping the franchise grounded.

Tom Hardy Circling Snow White & The Huntsman
Tom Hardy's post-Inception roles are becoming beyond epic. Notably taking on the Mad Max franchise along with roles in Batman 3 and possibly the new Total Recall. Hardy is adding fantasy to his list of possible projects with Universal's Snow White & The Huntsman. ThePlaylist reports Hardy is circling the re-imaging of the classic fairy tale. Where the Huntsman hired by the Evil Queen to kill Snow White instead falls in love with her and helps to train her to take on the Queen. The film will be directed by Rupert Saunders best known for his impressive live-action commercial for ODST.

John Slattery Could Be The New J.J. In Spider-Man?
WhatsPlaying is reporting that both John Slattery and Sam Elliot are in the running to play the new J. Jonah Jameson in Marc Webb's Spider-Man reboot. I have to give the edge to John Slattery since he was my top choice in my "Cast 'Em" segment. Yet Elliot has history with Marvel playing General Thunderbolt Ross in the first Hulk film and appearing in Ghost Rider.

Colin Farrell Starring In Total Recall?
HeatVision reports that Len Wiseman's (Underworld, Die Hard 4) Total Recall reboot could get it's new Douglas. They say that Colin Farrell is the front-runner for the role previously portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger. Tom Hardy (Max Mad 4, Batman 3, Inception) and Michael Fassbender (300, Inglourious Basterds, X-Men: Fist Class) have also been in talks for the role. This wouldn't be Farrell's first jump into the world of Philip K. Dick he had a small role in Minority Report which was based on Dick's work. I'm just curious if they'll water this version down to PG-13 since they've already mentioned not going to Mars. I hope there is still science fiction involved because if there is lack of action like the extreme violence of the original film I'm not sure people will like this. The Adjustment Bureau another Dick adaptation looks like it's beyond generic so I'm nervous to support this remake. The worst thing they could do is make this a by the numbers PG-13 action film without heavy science fiction elements like Mars.

Pride, Prejudice & Zombies Could Star Johansson & Cooper
Now that David O'Russell has left Pride, Prejudice & Zombies to focus on Uncharted and Natalie Portman has also walked. Martin Freeman Is Bilbo Baggins, Plus More Hobbit Casting Updates
Deadline confirms that indeed Martin Freeman will play Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit. Freeman best known for the British version of the Office and Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy was a fan favorite to play the role. More casting was included in the release which could be big breaks for the actors who are mostly known for television work. Similar to the career explosion the Lord of The Rings actors got they could soon become household names. "Richard Armitage (MI-5 and Captain America: The First Avenger) will play Thorin Oakenshield, leader of the Company of Dwarves which sets off to reclaim the Lonely Mountain from a thieving dragon. Aidan Turner (Being Human) and Rob Kazinsky (EastEnders) will play Kili and Fili, members of the Company of Dwarves. Graham McTavish (Secretariat) will play Dwalin, John Callen (Power Rangers Jungle Fury) will play Oin; Stephen Hunter (All Saints) will play Bombur, and Mark Hadlow (King Kong) plays Dori, while Peter Hambleton (The Strip) will play Gloin."
The site also mentions that Bill Nighy (Hot Fuzz, Pirates 2-3) could voice Smug the dragon. There are still roles for James Nesbitt (Jekyll) and David Tennant (Doctor Who) along with roles for Saoirse Ronan and Stephen Fry (Sherlock Holmes 2). While Andy Serkis and Ian McKellan aren't listed it's expected they'll reprise their roles in the two films. I suspect Stephen Fry could be the Goblin King.

Spielberg To Direct Robopocalypse
Deadline has confirmation that Steven Spielberg will direct Robopocalypse. It's interesting to see the director jump from Tintin to the dramatic WWI story of War Horse and now to this epic science fiction film.
Jack The Giant Killer To Shoot Spring 2011, Aaron Johnson To Star?
Deadline reports Warner Bros. and New Line have greenlit Bryan Singer's Jack The Giant Killer. The film is expected to start shooting in the spring thanks to script changes from Christopher McQuarrie who worked with Singer on both Valkyrie and The Usual Suspects. He also wrote the script for Wolverine 2. The site also reports Singer would love to cast Aaron Johnson in the film. He and Andrew Garfield had been rumored for screen tests but with Garfield locked in for Spider-Man it looks like Johnson could get the role.
Iron Man 3 Coming May 3rd 2013
Disney, Marvel and Paramount have announced the release date of Iron Man 3. It will hit theaters on May 3rd 2013 and is the first official confirmation of the third film. It's expected we'll see the return of both Robert Downey Jr. and director Jon Favreau. I hope they end up focusing on Stark and not cameos/easter eggs and setups for future films. There has been talk of Emily Blunt taking role in the film since she had been originally cast in the Black Widow role.

Fox Wants James Franco & Anne Hathaway For Alien Prequels?
BloodyDisgusting reports that Fox has two other names on their wish-list to be cast in their Alien Prequel directed by Ridley Scott. The site says they hope to get James Franco and Anne Hathaway. Franco is getting more known for his dramatic roles in films like Milk, 127 Hours and Howl. He's also helping Fox resurrect the Planet of The Apes franchise starring in their reboot/prequel Rise of The Apes. I'm hoping they want Anne Hathaway for a smaller role I couldn't see her carrying a two hour science fiction horror film.

Darren Aronofsky Will Direct Wolverine 2
Deadline says that Fox has pretty much given the task of helming Wolverine 2 to Darren Aronofsky. They previously reported that Darren passed on Warner Bros. offer to direct Gangster Squad to instead pursue Wolverine 2 and a decent paycheck. Now they say the studio has agreed to shoot stage scenes in New York to accommodate both Darren and Hugh Jackman's families. The rest of the filming will take place on location in Japan. It sounds like the deal is all but official and it will be the best move by Fox to up the sequel's quality. I'm just hoping that Darren doesn't pull a Matthew Vaughn and jump ship during pre-production. It's not surprising since Darren's working relationship with Fox Searchlight which picked up his last two films The Wrestler and Black Swan. Not to mention his previous experience working with Jackman on The Fountain.

Peter Jackson Officially Directing The Hobbit, Offers Go Out For Roles
It looks like the massive epic of just getting production started on The Hobbit films is finally coming to an end. Deadline reports Peter Jackson has finally come on board to direct, the film has been greenlit and offers have gone out to actors. The only thing holding it back is the current labor dispute which could see the films shot outside of New Zealand. Interesting enough Martin Freeman (Hitchhikers Guide) is up for Bilbo Baggins while others such as David Tennant (Doctor Who), Michael Fassbender (X-Men First Class, Inglourious Basterds) and James Nesbitt (Jekyll, Sunday Bloody Sunday) have been offered unnamed roles in the film. Noomi Rapace & Kingsley Join Last Voyage of Demeter
LATimes reports Noomi Rapace has lined up her next big starring role in the horror thriller The Last Voyage of Demeter. Noomi is picking up some impressive projects with Sherlock Holmes 2 and now this one. Rapace is also in talks for roles in the Alien prequels nd Hansel Gretel: Witch Hunters. Ben Kingsley who has been touch and go with his performances is also joining the movie. They are still looking for the film's male lead who I hope can keep up with Noomi. I have to assume Ben would be playing Dracula.
If you didn't see the Dracula films or read the novel by Bram Stoker. The Demeter is the ship that transports the Count's coffin from Transylvania to London. The crew were picked off one by one by the legendary vampire. I doubt that Rapace would choose this and the new Alien films since the premise is very similar just different settings. The film will be directed by Oscar winner Stefan Ruzowitzky who previously made the excellent Counterfeiters.

Luke Evans & Alice Eve Join The Raven
TheHollywoodReporter says that Luke Evans and Alice Eve are in talks to join The Raven. Evans would be replacing Jeremy Renner who had been attached to star but left to focus on MI4. Luke will play detective who has to team up with Edgar Allen Poe played by John Cusack. The pair's mission is to save Poe's kidnapped fiancee played by Eve from a serial killer. Raven seems like it's going to be a darker version of Sherlock Holmes meets Se7en which could be good or terrible. The hope is that director James McTeigue can do the project justice like he did with V For Vendetta.

Danny Boyle To Direct Third 28 Days Later Film?
DreadCentral reports that Danny Boyle is returning to the 28 Days Later franchise. Boyle is expected to direct the third film which should be larger than the previous movies and could expand the rage virus to a worldwide outbreak. It's been rumored since the second film was released that Boyle wanted to direct the third film. The site claims they have comments from Danny Boyle himself. Adrien Brody Repsonds To Ant-Man Rumor
ScreenRant was also able to talk with Adrien Brody on the rumors of him being up for the role of Hank Pym in Ant-Man. While Adrien doesn't know if his people had been pursing the role he gives the impression he'd be up for it. I really hope Marvel doesn't overlook the fact that an Oscar winning actor like Brody is considering the non-formula superhero film from Joe Cornish and Edgar Wright.
“I haven’t been involved in any of those discussions – I have mentioned it to my reps who have been kind of covert about their response as well, which is very strange to me. I said ‘Is there any validity to this, what is this?’ and they said ‘Well…it’s too early to say.’ It was very strange and I kind of dropped it at that…Not everything that is bandied around the Internet is factual, but sometimes there are elements that do stem from truth that people who are in the middle of it aren’t aware of either. We’ll see.”
“I’m enthusiastic about it. The key is to constantly push the boundaries and to find things that allow me to be creative and do things that, you know, I enjoy and grow from.”
